It is an act of cowardice and an act of selfishness. Life is hard and to check out when the going gets rough is the same as tucking tail and running. Standing up and facing adversity is bravery. Having the guts to get help for whatever is causing the thoughts of suicide is bravery. Sticking out whatever is so tough that suicide is an option is bravery. People who commit suicide are thinking only of themselves. There are many people left in the wake of a suicide who do not know the reason and feel guilty. There are more lives affected that just the one who chooses to die.

If Kurt Cobain killed himself, he was not a coward and I will never think less of him for it. I am still not sure if he did commit suicide but if he did it is his own choice. Of course it does not make the loss of such a great person any easier to deal with, but perhaps he was just to big for this world. It is amazing that Kurt has been gone for12 years now. Wow. that is hard to believe. It does not feel like it has been that long. And it is completely pathetic that I am still not over his death and continue dealing with my pain and anger of his death everyday. I do not know if suicide is brave, but it is also not an act of cowardice.

i feel, and this is just my personal belief, that it is a form of cowardice..why, because a person who commits suicide is looking for an escape, and not looking to try and deal with whatever is around them.

i had a cousin who at the age of 16 gained the attention of family, friends and the law by committing suicide. she took 26 bottles of different over the counter medications. called 911 told them that she got home and there was a dead teenager laying on the floor. when the cops got there, my cousin was dead. when the autopsy was done they found all the medication plus a 22 calibur bullet lodged in the back of her throat.

she could not face the reality of the world around her. she believed everyone had to be focused on her and her only. well in the end she had all the attention. but, what she could not deal with was the reality that a person could love more than one person at a time. in this case it was a shout to her parents, because she felt that she should have been the only child to have been loved and not her younger sister.

now if you are the religious type, it is said that there will be no redemption for suicide and that you have condemned yourself to a life in hell.

but, in some cultures --- like those of the arab nation, islamic nation and others similar cultures; suicide is an act of bravery towards their religion. it shows your devoteness towards the beliefs. that is why they show no cause to become a suicide bomber because they do not see suicide as a sin rather an act of bravery to obtaining everlasting life.

***i hope to have helped you with your dilema***

actual, it extremely is a act of discomfort and desperation. It takes great power to stick to by so cowardice isnt it. I even have been very close numerous situations and did no longer stick to by simply by fact i replaced into afraid of what it i did no longer succeed and who i could harm. i'm happy now that i did no longer stick to by yet back then it replaced into the only component i wanted replaced into for the crap to provide up. and that i did no longer care how. i replaced into tried and bored to death with all the psychological discomfort. anybody that thinks it extremely is a act of bravery or cowardice has in no way been head to head with the belief heavily.

cowardice. there is no other explanation.

if it were bravery then it would mean the very opposite and facing your fears rather than running away from them through death.

i feel sorry for the people who loved those who committed suicide because it also means that they didn't mean enough to them to carry on living. I know some people will say - it's because they cared for them and thought they'd be better off without them. i don't think this is true.
if they cared that much about them they would leave but carry on with their own lives with bravery and face up to their problems not commit suicide and be a coward.

sorry if that offends anyone. x

It is neither. The person who commits suicide has reached a point where they see no answers to their problems, who feel they have nothing left to gain from life, sometimes they may even feel others lives would be better with them gone..Suicide is not a selfless act either in some ways it is a selfish act..so many are left behind wondering why and what if I had...its not fair the hurt doesn't stop just because we stop breathing.

If Cobain had a very good reason, which I'm sure we would have known by now, then he may be brave. Reasons are he's dying and he doesn't want to die in a hospital bed with all dignity taken away AND it was a family decision, not just his. It wasn't this, right? So he was a coward and selfish.

Neither, it is an act of ignorance.... driven by a rising level of anxiety that ones MIND cannot otherwise cope with. But, the person who commits suicide will not so again. Sound strange? Only if one does not comprehend the concept of reincarnation. The cost of committing suicide is really heavy in both punishment and Karmic due bills generated.

Its not a matter of bravery or cowardice.Suicidal tendancy occurs only when the situation becomes very drastic that u could not survive with dignity. Its more or less a zero point where u are
forced to overcome a situation without giving up ur dignity and prestige u have held unto that moment.Generally people prefer to
live with honour and if their honour gets damaged then they cease to live as honour is more than life.

Not bravery, cowardice, and desperation... I am not judging people for committing suicide, but I really think it's the easy way out, and that is not right. But again... when you are desperate, and don't have anyone alongside to counter what you think... some people just can't help it.
