I read about 6-8. Depending on the book, how much free time I have etc. If it's one of my favourites that I'm re-reading like "To Kill a Mockingbird" By Harper Lee, "Angela's Ashes" by Frank Mc Court or "Macbeth" by Shakespeare, then I'll read more. If it's something that I have to concentrate on, then it'll take longer.

If you can instill a love of reading in a child at a young age, then it is the best gift that you can ever give then. It goes from the cradle to the grave and costs nothing. You can go to the public library and you never have to buy an upgrade pack like you do with computer games as new books come out all the time. There is a genre for everyone. Teach your kids to read, folks, and they'll never be bored.

I can't speak for the "average" person, as my boyfriend doesn't read books at all, and I read up to 4 books a month, depending on the length. If you average us out, maybe the average people read 1 or 2 books a month?

It depends on what reading materials your pertaining to ..
average I bet can read about 1 per month ...
but more the pips who love to read it will 5-10 books or going to 30 books per month .

on my part I read about 10-15 books a month.

Depends upon the reading capacity of the person too...
and also of course with the free time that they have in their daily lives ;-)

Unfortunately, I'd have to say the average person reads 0 to 1 book a month.

By stumbling into the Books & Authors category, though, you found a bunch of bibliophiles that will probably skew your results a bit! I try to read two a month, but it can be more or less depending on the length and difficulty of the subject matter.

I read upwards of 30-40 books a month, but I know I am way above the average. My sister doesn't read books at all - only magazines. Which of us is closer to the "average" person?

Well, in my teens up to having a baby at 36, I would read 2-4 per month. Since then, except for baby books, it is more like 2-3 a year... :-(

I'd say....hmmm let's see 2 books per week times 4 weeks.... I'd say 8ish? Oh wait... u said the average person.... that's different.... try a book and a half maybe... if they're lucky. Some people just can't find the time to sit down and read a book.

I don't know about the average, but I read about 28 to 30 every month and have been for over 50 years. I have read over 565,000 books in my lifetime and am hoping I will read over a million before I leave this vale. Although, the books are becoming larger and I am slowing down some.

I always have to have something to read. I probably read at least 3-4 books per month.
