Same here totally! I never use lip gloss. I just hate the sticky feel! It feels like somebody put glue on my lips! Eeeeewwww! I'd much rather play with my hair. It's free and fun. And the accessories are cheap and fashionable. Why spend $30 on lip gloss? (or any other makeup for that matter?)

It's a status thing. Some people think that the more they spend on something the better it is. Some people also think that if they spend a lot on small things that it makes them look wealthy or important.

Some less expensive brands of makeup are just as good as others. My favorite brand is L'Oreal and it's not expensive at all. Why should I pay $13 for a MAC eyeshadow when I can get one for $6 - $7 or less and achieve the same look?

You go right on getting lip gloss at Wal Mart. Me too.

For some people it's a way of showing others that they are "better" because they can afford more expensive things. (so not true) For me, however, I prefer to use MAC Lipgloss and Eyeshadow because they work the best. I have tried so many different brands of makeup and such(ie. Loreal, Jane, Covergirl, Max Factor, Lancome, Chanel, etc) but I have found MAC to have the best staying power and the greatest feeling (Not too heavy). It is a little pricey, but it's a great way to reward yourself after being such a hard worker.

I agree. Most of those pricey lip gloss products have the same ingredients as the low priced ones. It's the name you are paying for, not the product. Stick with what you like and that feels good on your lips. I simply use it because it makes my lips feel soft. Some people are obsessed because of advertisement and they want to be the "in crowd."

If you read reviews of cosmetics, often the cheap brands fare just as well if not better than the more expensive brands. My only problem with the cheap brands are the excessive use of animal testing. Of course, many of the expensive brands engage in this too. Some of the brands I have found that do not engage in animal testing are usually on the more expensive side.

obviously you have never tried a more expensive branded lip gloss. you CAN feel and see the difference. they last better and have a nicer look. ive tried, cheap, middle of the range and expensive brands. i usually go for a gloss around the $25 to $30 mark.

I love Stila and Cargo for their color selections and Kiehls makes the best tinted lip-balms ever. This isn't to say I don't try the cheaper stuff. I've just found that the higher-end products are better for me. That said, I go cheap on the other things - Avon mascara, Covergirl powder, and Maybelinne eyeliner. Those work just fine for me and that allows me to increase my lip-gloss budget. :)

Because they are suffering from a collective disorder called status and stupidity.
As with anything, higher prices do NOT necessarily mean a better product, they are merely paying a lot of money for a "name", thinking it will modify their lives and impress their friends--something like buying $500.00 designer jeans, which are ordinary jeans with the knees brutalized to threadbare.
Makes LOT of sense, doesn't it.

Because the better brands have better colors, like true neutrals. Some of my favorite gloss colors have no drugstore equivalent, like MAC C-Thru & Viva Glam V.

It depends on the girl. I don't use lipgloss I use vaseline. I like that it makes my lips soft and suptle. But with other girls maybe the color they want is made by a brand that is in Walmar or Target. Why does it matter to you what others do with their money. You act its yours.
