I've sent them to the desktop and tried to run them. I've unzipped them for zippo on the working part and am up to my chin in frustration. Thanks for any and all help supplied.

Humm, they should work automatically.
If I were you start off by completely installing the program from the windows uninstaller found in "Control Panel."
Then download the newest version of the widget manager, install and test it out.

If the problem persists maybe check your personal firewall settings to be sure that widget manager is allowed to access the Internet.

you will need a programme to run it like a widget engine from yahoo
