It was never touted as the secret of eternal youth.
It was supposed to allow people with a terminal illness to be "dead" until a cure was found.
Then the people were supposed to be revived and cured.
Of course, the revival process hasn't been figured out yet either.
That is supposed to happen in the future sometime.
Currently, too much damage to tissues, nerve cells, etc occur during the freezing process to currently allow a person to be revived.
Let's put it this way, it you weren't dead before being frozen, you are now.

Freezing tissue harms it thus you couldn't use it for cosmetic purposes because it would cause more harm than good. On the other hand it could be used for medical purposes, not for curing diseases but by using cryogenics it's possible to preserve people until proper medication is developed giving time to those in need.

Freezing flesh causes damage to the flesh. Crystals form that tear through cells. They've tried various methods to correct this, but even if they succeed, why would anybody bother bringing back a dead person? We already have 6.5 billion alive people.
A better avenue is figuring out brain-machine interfaces and eventually downloading the brain to a computer.

This reminds me of the story of scientists who learned how to create a human from dirt. God said, "Okay, go ahead and show me how you do it."
One scientist started setting up elaborate equipment while another scientist started to scrape dirt into a pile.
"Wait just a minute now," said God, "Get your own dirt!"
