I have tried dryer exhaust hose, that they like to run through. Also, I have tried shredded paper in a box that they like to burrow in. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Crocheted eggs(plastic easter eggs), large bowl of water, empty can with marbles in it.
Different ferrets like different things, some are even nervous around loud noises.
One of mine likes beanie babies, the other likes empty chips bags that crinkle.
Go to a home improvement store and look for the concrete form section. They have large card board tubes that are commonly used to pour concrete posts, which are cheap and very entertaining.
Card board boxes, like shoe boxes with different size holes in them, stacked on top of each other work. Socks with toys or treats inside them are fun.
You can freeze a piece of their favorite treat in an ice tray with water or water mixed with ferretone. Put the ice cube in a large frisbee like dish and watch them chase it around.
An old pair of jeans or PJ bottoms for crawling through is always fun. Make a digging box out of rice or bio-degradable packing peanuts(the kind that dissolves in water, the others are dangerous).
We have "Magic towel rides", where I pull a large beach towel along the floor in front of them. They will eventually all jump on and hang on for dear life. I keep pulling them until they all tumble off or climb up to my hands.

Give them plenty of new things to smell, even if they seem weird, like an empty pizza box, an old shoe, things like that.
You can also freeze some turkey or chicken baby food in cubes and let them have at it.
One of mine loves it when I drop treats into a big ceramic bowl full of water so he can go snorkling for it. It took him a minute to figure out they were in there, but now he dives into any water he comes across, just in case, lol. He's funny.

Okay so yeah, do NOT let him play with the neighbors dog, i also think that's incredibly stupid. My 3 month old ferret LOVES plastic bags! i mean she throws them up in the air, and shes fine with just one of those, here are some ideas; 1. A stick with a string and a ball or stuffed animal at the end! My ferret will ATTACK that thing like crazy and she loves it! 2. Blankets..blankets...blankets. My ferret also goes crazy over those! 3. A ferret hammock! Although they sleep in them, my ferret has so much fun in it! She jumps around in it and has a blast. 4. Shoe boxes! One with a top; because they love to pull the top off and explore whats inside! 5. Stuffed animals! I have this stuffed black duck thats HUGE, she'll climb on it and wrestle with it! It's hilarious to watch. 6. Socks! My ferret loves socks and tosses them around. I'm sure i'll think of more! But i'm having a mind block! (haha) Also, ferrets usually require 3-4 hours play time! I play with my ferret (Holly) for about 3 and a half hours and shes usually tuckered out by then! Good luck with keeping your ferrets happy!

Put a laundry basket over them and watch them try to get out! Its hilarious! Oh I am sorry that would be entertaining to you not them! LOL,
Ferrets are naturally in to everything! To be honest, I think you could give them anything and they would be happy. Buy them some balls to chase around or get some string and hang it up so that it just dangles to the floor. But, no matter what you get them, you will always be their number one play "thing". They love to chase human hands and feet.

mine used to love chasing things so cat toys on string are good or even those piano wire toys. They love rubber balls but I wouldn't suggest it because at some point in time one will get part of the rubber ball lodged in its GIT and require surgery to remove it. Mind you those balls in runner tracts (for cats are good value). Other than that, I wired dryer hose all through my house, had tons of paper bags on the floor and several hard plastic balls kicking around the place...not to mention the squeeky toys (but take them away when they start to destroy them).
They really do make great pets!

paper towel tubes, tennis ball, cheap laser pointer, cardboard box with holes in it. the list could go on they are very easily entertained.

You could make a maze out of PVC piping (very cheap) and they can play in that. A ball of Aluminum foil (if they start to eat it - take it away).

If you could find a black snake or something similar they would have a blast with it. You may want to use a non-venomous snake to start until they hone their skills. Then any snake will do. I never let mine go for the non-venomous snakes, but, when I seen a Copperhead in the yard.......... it was play time! :-D
