Even though Elvis was a big influence on The Beatles and John Lennon personally, when it was all said and done they had definitely surpassed him in not only popularity, but quality of music. How many great Beatles albums are there for every great Elvis one?

Also, while Elvis may have sold a billion albums, so have The Beatles as a group and if you add in bootlegs, out takes and solo works, that number nearly doubles...

I hoped this cleared things up a bit.

Outside the US (if you are from America?) The Beatles by a mile.

Whilst Elvis is rightly acknowledge for his ability and pa thing the way for Rock 'n' Roll artists to come, The Beatles developed so many new musical and fashion styles, notwithstanding their cultural impact, that ALL others continued to follow/develop to this day.

I would think this is an unsolvable question as I'm sure many in the US would vote Elvis - maybe the question should be country/region specific?

I'm gonna say Elvis, 'cuz he paved the way for the rest of the more modern bands.
They're both pretty popular and I like both of them!

I would guess that it was Elvis. He was a cross-over artist and had #1 hits in Country, Rock and Gospel.

World-wide would be the Beatles. In America, still the King.
