I was really tired when I saw the movie, so I didn't really understand what was up with the whole kidnapping/bomb threat. I just wanted to know what the dude was after; it's been bugging me! lol

I think there was money in the air plane that he wanted to steal.
There are many holes in the plot. the plot goes like this
the captain is the villain and wants to get the 50 million dollars ransom. He basically wanted to frame Kyle and get away with the ransom money.
