I'm going to a conference in the Union Square part of the city. What is there to get into?

In the city.

Ride a cable car.
Go to Fisherman's Wharf.
Go down Lombard Street (Crookedest street in the world).
Go to Coit Tower
Go to China Town and Japan Town.
Go to a 'gay' review (Female impersonators).
Take a harbor cruise.
If it is still open, go to Alcatraz (for a visit, not to stay).
Visit some painted ladies (Victorian era houses, painted with interesting colors)

Outside of city (North), Sausalito, Muir woods, wine country.

If you are a member of Triple A, then get a California guide book and map of SF area.

The Cheesecake Factory is a nice place to eat. I would recommend dining at Asia de Cuba at the Clift Hotel, one of the trendiest hotels in the area. There is very good shopping in that area.

Also, consider taking the cable car to Fisherman's Wharf & Ghirardelli Square. Cow Hollow is a nice place to just hang around and drink.
