Just saw V for Vendetta..loved the movie surprisingly good..Hugo Weaving was an excellent choice as V his voice makes me wanna come outta my clothes..lol
Can anyone tell me if he is gay or straight? I have read several postings but none on his orientation?

he is straight in the movie and in real life. he was also the guy who played agent smith in the matrix. v for vendetta was a great movie, especially the beginning scene.

This is such a lovely example of Alan Moore's near genius. It might be easier to break it down sentence by sentence. 1st sentence: "Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. The key word is "vicissitudes" which means an unwelcome/unpleasant change of fortunes. Basically V is saying that through unfortunate circumstances (but ones that may have not been unavoidable hence Fate) he in his life was once a victim (his internment) and now a villain (as the powers that be label him) 2nd Sentence: This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. Simply his mask is now worn out of utility. He is not wearing it due to some horrible disfigurement but represents in some small way the now gone "voice of the people" (vox pouli). In the current time of the movie obviously there was no freedom of speech/expression/to think differently and in fact the people have seemed to forget how to even exercise it. 3rd Sentence: "However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition." Yet those freedoms that are now gone are still here (in the form of the character "V" and he vows to crush the evil oppressive Government. 4th Sentence: "The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. He as an embodiment of those freedoms promises truthfully to demonstrate the true value of those freedoms and why they are important. 5th Sentence: "Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V." What does he mean?" I will directly translate this last sentence. "Truly the mixture of big words is simply to show off how smart I am. It is nice to meet you. I am V. To sum up more succinctly. He is saying- "I was a victim of the current Government. They have taken away our freedoms. I will show the people and the Government just how much those freedoms mean. For this I will be branded a villain but it is the Government and the apathy and complacency of the people that are the true villains. I will use any means violent or otherwise to make my point. How you doing? Call me V."

Weaving lives in Sydney with his girlfriend Katrina Greenwood and their children Harry and Holly. Though some articles state that they are married, Weaving has brought up his dislike for marriage in interviews.
