I was watching the movie "Sliding Doors" in it Gwenyth refers to herself as a "mug" and later calls her boyfriend a "git". What do these terms mean.

A mug is a person who has been exploited with ease.
Git is a shortened form of the word illegitimate, meaning barstard and is used as a less harsh expression of the term and always as an insult (even if only lightly) rather than as a substitute for the actual real meaning.

I always thought a "mug" was someones face. I've never been sure of what a "git" is. Someone once told me that a "git" is a sheep testicle, which would be a hilarious thing to call someone, but I doubt that it's actually true.

As soon as I find a really hot British guy, I will let you know.....

Mug implies someone is a fool, idiotic and slightly gullable, a git is someone who is cruel or/and mean. I dont have a clue where the terms derived from though!
