It's not easy I'm afraid...you want to erase her completely yet keep a friendship? It won't work. If you need to get over her you need to keep your distance..go out with your mates, take up a sport etc. Eventually you will be friends again possibly. I broke my boyfriend of 7 years heart due to personal circumstances. We are now friends. Give it time. But don't make the mistake of thinking you'll get over her while still seeing her. Unless you're super human!

You cant keep a friendship after you break up...its just not possible. What made you lovers in the first place has now gone, how can you still remain friends. I think that it only happens in the movies. If you want to erase her completely how can you still WANT to be friends?

If you seriously want to erase her you have to get laid..I promise it helps.

I have been told to date someone else will work. But depending on how far the relationship lasted and how deep you get with a person will depend on what you will need to do to level you and your ex back to "just friends".

Don't try to be friends with your ex (or her family, or her friends, etc.) Don't be enemies, just cut all ties until you get over her. Keep yourself busy and start dating as soon as you can. My nephew broke up with his live in girlfriend and cried around for about a week. He started dating another girl and after about the second date he forgot about his ex.

Give up the "friends" thing ... that's just a line.
