Nostalgia, primarily. The fall colors and scenic countryside recall the idyllic, romanticized image so popular when we were younger both as individuals and as a society. It evokes images of peace, tranquility, success, and readiness for the rigors of winter to come. It offers a sort of spiritual payback for all the hard work we put in from the new year to the next autumn, even if we don't actually live out in that countryside and rarely set foot outside a Manhattan skyscraper. Vicarious living? Sure - ain't nothin' wrong with that. New York and New England's scenic vistas belong to all of us - lets just drive carefully out there on the scenic routes that abound in Upstate New York. Come see the sights! Bring money! The Mohawk Valley and the Oneida Lake region are as close to heaven as a good many of ya are ever gonna get. It's also my home, so please don't litter! I'm too old to go pickin' up after ya!

Autumn anywhere is inviting...but in New York it's the promise of new love that makes it so inviting.

NY is never inviting. I'd rather drag my butt across a mile of broken beer bottles, then go to the big apple.

Really have no idea.
To me it would seem as if I am going to die. And I don't like Gere that much. (And don't like Ryder at all.)
