There are some disputes about what a "university" really was and there could have been older places of higher learning, but the generally accepted oldest university is Al-Azhar University in Cairo Egypt. It is connected with the Al-Azhar Mosque and started offering theological studies in a formal school in 988, even though related studies were offered from shortly after the mosque opened in 969.

The oldest university is Europe is the University of Bologna, founded in 1088 and oldest US university is open to debate depending upon how you define it. Harvard for oldest institution of higher learning, since 1650, and Univ of Pennsylvania as the oldest chartered university, since the 1790s.

I don't think 'antique' is the word you are looking for. According to this link, the oldest university in the world is in Cairo.

Europe's oldest university opened in Bologna a hundred years later.
