All popular stories portray Pirates from England but it isnt very likely with our Rough Cold Seas and **** weather! More truth in that England has loads of Land Pirates (gypos, pikies etc)!

Apparently there were a lot of shipwrecks around the west coast of England years ago because of all the rocks and maybe because the sailors didnt know that England was in the way. So the West Country folk got in their little boats and boarded the vessels and plundered all the booty. Apparently they took the booty back to their little caves and then had another go when another ship got stuck. This is what my no sense of humour work colleague told me, she didnt see the funny side of the question, accused me of doing no work so i then said well youve been doing Suduuko all day to which she went red in the face and has now put her headphones on.....sucker!!!

Not all of 'em, but the most famous was.... a certain Blackbeard or William Teach.

As most of the best, and most exciting, surviving swashbuckling tales of piracy are based on Blackbeard's adventures, they all have the same accent.

Aaaar, indeed.

Oh, yeah, and they were previously employed to rob and disrupt Spanish trade routes..... by the British government. It was only when they continued this practice in the carribbean that the powers that be got a bit shirty about it.. So it is fair to say, most of them were from all 4 countries in the UK, and spoke English.
