Ok, I've never gone into Peace Corps, but I've participated in some UNESCO Scholarship Programs Abroad, I've been in Kenya, Sri Lanka and Haiti, it's awesome because you see and live the life from another perspective, you value what you have, your thinking change a lot, and you come back home and when you tell people about you helped overseas, they really like it, because they find in you other values, normal people don't have, but for me the most awesome thing about it, is that when I was in Sri Lanka, there I met Prince William and I also spent some days with him, that's awesome, Do it, You'll be another one.

I served for 2 years 30 years ago. It was the most exciting, rewarding and difficult two years I have spent.

The keys to a good experience, from talking to other PCV's, seem to be
1) Have a well-defined job (I taught English at a secondary school)
2) Go to a country where the government is trying to better the people's lot. PCV's in countries where the main function of the government is to keep 90% of the wealth in 10% of the population's hands are not good places to go.

It is Peace CORPS, by the way.
