Here, I'll give you the statement that the Pope should have given:
The fact that nearly 30% of Muslims support suicide bombers and regard them as martirs, and a greater percentage believe in jihad tells us that Islam, by and large, is a violent and evil cult. Are there "good" muslims? Yes, the ones that sit silently by as thousands were killed on 9/11, hundreds killed and thousands injured in Spain, London, Indonesia, Egypt, Turkey, etc. These are also the same "good" muslims that in reaction to the Pope's comments, engaged in a civil demonstration of burning buildings, killing nuns, disrespecting Jesus, and have called on the assassination of the Pope. These are also the same good Muslims that have set up Sharia law in Canada and Michigan.
You want an apology? Well you won't get it, since you proved my comments with your beastly behavior. OBL, Zarqawi, Zawahiri, Atta behead, kill, main, all in the name of Allah and not a peep.
Muslims are cowards.

and if you are going to counter my assertions, giving the Crusades and the Inquisitions will not work. Something happen after that period, a time called the Enlightment, something that Islam has never experienced and is a major reason why they are still a 5th century cult whose leader was an epilectic, warmongering, murdering, pedophile drug addict.

someone must be a retard (pun intended). Weak argument. Those wars were not wars based on religion, which is exactly what Islam is doing today. Try again

What I think is funny is that the Cardinal of Rome read from a passage in a Dark Ages book to reference the incompatibility of violent faith and righteous submission to God. By essentially calling for an end to violence and intolerance in the Muslim faith, Muslims responded with violence and intorlerance.
"How dare you say we muslims are violent and intollerant. Now shut your mouth or we will break the crosses of the dog of Rome, kill you, rape your nun's, and pillage your Vatican".
That is the response from the religion of "peace".

I'm a Muslim. Perhaps I can answer your "question":
Christian history is bloodier and more barbaric than almost anything the world has ever known. It makes the 9/11 terrorists look like little harmless kittens. Inquisitions, crusades, inner Christian fighting (Catholics, Orthodox, etc.), inventing the world's most horrible torture devices, the colonial and imperialist wars in the 1800's and early 1900's, and much more. Bush is a Christian, look what he's done. Ashcroft is a fundamental Christian, and look how he raped the consituton. Listne to anything By Robertson, Falwell, Graham, etc. etc. and you get the idea.
You say 30% support suicide bombers? OK, where did you get that statistic? And assuming it's true, suicide bombers are two types: (1) terrorists who do evil things (like the 9/11 and 7/7 terrorists) (2) those who are liberating their countries from the peace-loving, "civilized" West, as in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine. So suicide bombing in itself is not a bad deed.
The Pope started the provocation. Has a Muslim Mufti who speaks on behalf of hundreds of millions of Muslims (like the Pope does) ever quoted some medeival text that insults Jesus and approved and agreed with it? No. Of course, to the selective eye, like yours, i.e. one that sees only the negative part, Muslims are sure to be pure evil. Heck, bunnies would look like ruthless murderers too, my dear.
As for apologies, the Pope has apologized, to much of your sorrow and agony I presume. But, his apology means nothing really. Christians have been known to be hypocritical and bloodthirsty, so his apology is a lie, obviously. He quoted the text and said nothing, obviously approving of it, and now he's backing off and saying the exact opposite? And that's your POPE! And, just like all the other popes before him, he's Islamophobic, believing in nothing but hatred and blood spilling, something - although discouraged in the Bible - Christians love to practice.

That post is hate.
The user should be banned.
Some points.
1. It is the US and other countries at war "in predominantly muslim countries"
2. Sharia law isn't "set up" it exists by default for practicing muslims. Just like the levies taxes and rituals such as animal sacrifices exist for true jews and old testament adherant christians.
None of the people you mentioned had "trials" so they are not "convicted or guilty of the acts you state.
I must add that video evidence and otherwise can be doctored the technologies exist. I am not saying that they were I am just saying that there is no way of "really" knowing.
I find your comment? Question to lack intelligence.
If you'd like to start seeing a decline in violence why don't you shut up, it'll be a good start, you are only antagonizing the situation.

They talk smack about the rest of us (Christians, Jews, Buddhists, none-of-the-above, etc.) non-freakin-stop - but if we (the rest of the world) say a word they don't like, or draw a cartoon, or just look at them funny, they start blowing up our churches, statues of Buddha, cafes full of students, schoolbuses, office buildings...
Somebody please tell us how "Islam is Peace" again. We're all so interested in hearing that.

I agree to most of what you wrote except the following:
Muslims are certainly not cowards, mad dogs perhaps.
The insults to the Muslim prophet Mohamed are fruitless and had better be retracted.
