It's an enterprise solution, and a data device primarily used by professionals to have constant connection to email. It also had word and excel capabilities. Blackberries require Internet service to make the most of their capabilities, which runs $30-$70, depending on service provider, and whether or not you need international capability to use while roaming. They are manufactured by RIM (Research in Motion). Newer ones are bluetooth capable, and there are primarily 2 types: one with full QWERTY keypad, which is the easiest to type on, and one with more of a phone factor, and two letters on each key. You can also use them as a phone, in which case you need two plans: one for the data usage, and one for the minutes.

The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device introduced in 1999 which supports push e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services. It was developed by Research In Motion (RIM) and delivers information over the wireless data networks of cellular telephone companies. BlackBerry made headway in the marketplace by first concentrating on e-mail. RIM currently offers BlackBerry e-mail service to non-BlackBerry devices, such as Palm Treo, through BlackBerry Connect software. The original BlackBerry device had a monochrome display, but all current models have color displays.
