simplicity of the world? Why is everyone so ignorant? And I use this word to the fullest extent of its definition. Isn't it easier to be peaceful and passive rather than go completely out of your way to be rude, greedy and caught up in this pitiful excuse of a world? How many people say hello to a passing stranger? How many people say thank-you if someone holds a door? How many people hold the door? How many people slow down and enjoy their families? How many people instead of wandering about what they want next sit back and indulge in what they have now? Will everyone at least once a day (no matter how busy) live in now, now, now instead of more, more, more. Forget about tomorrow and live for today. Be kind, nice and caring at least with the people you know.

I work with the public. It has been a real long time since anyone used their manners. It's like I get paid to take crap from people. A simple please or thank-you would make my night!

you would have to move farther than the southern united states. hospitality there is gone with the wind and the influx of discontent northerners. there is no answer to your question that would explain the complete lack of manners in people now except no one teaches them any more. self-respect is a two way street and manners have to be re-enforce with the threat of ostracism...everybody today was raised to think freedom and liberty means they can get away with anything they want and scream abuse or politically incorrect when someone calls them on it. take the pope for instance....can't even quote a book..

I agree. Lucky for me I live in place where people will meet your eye and say hello, hold a door or say thanks when one is held for them. A place where you often hear "yes sir, no sir" "please" and "thank you."
Maybe it is the sweltering humid temps, it is hard to do much of anything in this weather. Also it could be that I live in the country, 15 miles outside of a small town, LOL.

Come to the South................................I will fix you a nice big southern dinner and serve it with a smile!

You think people in the south are nice? Hey lady, I live in SC and everyone here is minding their own business. We've become just as inhospitable and carefree as any large city.

Touche! I live in suburbs of Chicago and it is a very friendly community. When I travel I am stunned at how rude people can be.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED TO FIND FRIENDLIER CLIMATES THAN YOU ARE SWIMMING IN. MAY I SUGGESTED TULSA, OKLAHOMA OR GARDEN CITY, KANSAS OR CHARLESTON, W.V. ALL VERY FRIENDLY PLACES AND EVEN WAVE AT ONE ANOTHER PASSING BY IN CARS.

BTW I DO SAY HELLO TO STRANGERS, HOLD DOORS OPEN FOR OTHERS AND THEM FOR ME. I SAY THANK YOU AND SO DO THEY. FAMILY IS IMPORTANT HERE.
