Pirates are out, as I don't think the bride would look good with a moustache and a parrot on her shoulder!!

How about a Carry on theme. The bride can carry on with the best man and the groom with the chief bridesmaid.

fairy tale theme is always good, cause the bride can always be whisked away by her prince charming. (just remember that most men tend to despise wearing tights so be wary)
pirates is always good fun, cause the inevitable drunkenness of the reception is complemented by the expected rowdiness of pirates.
if you can get a good planner, a under the sea theme is good. the area can be decorated to go with the brides dress...(flowy and romantic). the pale blues and pale greens looked fantastic at a cousins wedding. don't go overboard with fishes.
Heaven is another option. very cute potential.
good luck

I married an italian in Italy, I gave all my travelers rustic looking favour bags full of home made chocolate almonds in diverse favours, they have been quite scrumptious and lots nicer than the same old sugared almonds, i ended them with a porcelain rose brooch, they regarded quite classic, i replaced into quite pleased with the known look and the shop have been quite efficient making specific I hadn't forgotten something.

I know it sounds stupid but all the men were in blue and all the women were in pink the we had a romantic theme through out the day. We sent out little cards with the invitations and asked everyone to write a little wish for us and then we got our guests to attach it to a balloon that they were given when we weremarried and then everyone let them go. pink balloons for the girls and blue balloons for the boys
