ok wasp are disturbing as they hurt you and are the only insect i know to get angry with you if you swipe at them..............but daddy long legs creep me out more their legs brush your skin when they get too close they have a knack of ALWAYS flying straight for your face and when they are trapped in lampshades they make a noise that sounds like a ufo landing in your lounge.

You should have been more specific in your question. "Daddy long legs" has two meanings: (1) the crane fly (2) the Daddy-long-legs spider (pholcus phalangioides). Many answerers thought you meant the spider, whereas you meant the crane fly, which is seen commonly in September. I agree with most people that the wasp is more disturbing because of its sting. However, if you are at home at night with the lights on, and the windows open, then it is the crane fly that will be the nuisance, hovering about your face. They make me react suddenly, even though they are harmless. But it has to be the sting of a wasp that id the decider.

Def without a doubt a wasp, because they sting you.
Daddy long legs (or dandy lion long legs as known by my little bro) are just annoying but they dont hurt you. Also has anyone noticed that there are loads of Daddy long legs about, they seem to buzz at you whenever you move, i think they just want to be friends??!

A wasp, definitely. They really hurt when they sting. I just had to add though, that a daddy long legs isn't a spider, as many of you seem to think it is. It is a fly, which is why they also go by the name "crane fly". Notice also they have six legs, while arachnids have eight legs. Crane flies don't even have teeth, nor do they eat, so they are pretty harmless.

It has to be the wasp. Once when I was a manager in a newsagents. One morning there was a wasp in the shop. So as it settled on a strip light above me I stood on the counter and approached it with a rolled up newspaper. Now, I swear the next part is TRUE! As I approached it must have sensed me because it tensed up and turnd its body slightly and looked directly at me. So of course I bolted. That was one hard wasp!

Daddylonglegs are just clumbsy and slow (but ugly) however, they are not hard as nails.

Daddy long legs...I hate spiders so if one were dangling in my face I would completely come unglued. Just thinking about now gives me the shivers. A wasp doesn't do a thing to me as far as scaring me. Go figure

i would probably have to say a wasp cause i have never had a daddy long leg spider hover around my face. plus the spider is gone with one good splat whereas the wasp flies around too fast that i can never hit them.
