Movieland isn't a virus, spyware or adware. Most security software will not get rid of it. It's a bunch of programs which have become installed on your computer and probably without you knowing about them.

I guess you're getting a frequent pop-up saying your trial has expired and you must now pay a subscription. Unless someone agreed to install Movieland then this is a load of whatever. Don't pay them anything, don't try to contact them by e-mail and don't give them any personal details.

If you're absolutely 100% certain that no-one agreed to download Movieland then you can remove it. But... this is a program which often comes hidden with other downloads and if you agreed to the other download you may have unwittingly agreed to download Movieland as well. If anyone who has access to your computer has downloaded smileys, screensavers etc then this is probably how Movieland came to be on your computer.

If there's a possibility that someone agreed to Movieland then you need to phone them and cancel your account BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE. If you attempt to delete Movieland first you'll lose your Customer ID Number and won't be able to cancel your account.

Just to elaborate on some of the other answers... Fluffy's answer won't work. Essexfriendly is on the right lines - the root file isn't called Movieland and the computer won't let you delete it. Gary's answer directs you to my website. Lomatar's answer won't work. Serena's answer won't work and will take you to the Movieland website if you try it. Sisinomi's answer only stops it temporarily and doesn't remove Movieland. Serenitysoul's answer takes you to a site where you have to buy software to remove Movieland (and I doubt it will work). Great Firefoxes answer won't do anything to prevent or remove Movieland and Big Chris's answer takes you to a site which is effectively copied from my site but isn't up to date.

You may want to perform a System Restore which takes your computer back to a previous state (i.e. before Movieland was installed). However, Movieland ceased in April this year and was immediately replaced by Moviepass. We've also managed to shut down Moviepass but this has now reappeared as Popcorn.net. If you have Movieland it suggests it's been on your computer for some months and performing a System Restore probably isn't practical as you'll lose a lot of other changes (ones that you want).

Go to this website... http://profend.com/answers/moviepass.html and carefully follow the instructions. It may take a while to remove all traces of Movieland as there's many files and programs to get rid of.

E-mail me if you need help (from my profile on Answers or the Contact page on the website).

Good luck.

I have come to the conclussion that Norton is useless, if you are unlucky enough to get a virus.

I had to look at a friend's computer when they got a virus. I really went through the hoops trying to get rid of the virus, and Norton was no help at all. I went into safe mode and deleted the root, ran norton, rebooted......no luck

In the end, I deleted Norton and installed AVG.... the first time it run, it detected the virus and cleared it (plus several others that Norton didnt even warn about)

Sorry, I cant be more help, I'd just say get a decent anti-virus

p.s. be aware that the root file might not be called 'movieland' so deleting everything with that in the title might not cure the problem, also if the virus is running a process, the computer might not let you dlete it, anyway

I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. The best PC cleaner and antivirus program is CCleaner, it's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate.

CCleaner is also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than nomal. Download it here for free: http://bit.ly/1mQZhtQ

For future protection:
Uninstall norton and all its components. Then install AVG from www.grisoft.com. It's free and is far better than Norton and doesn't hog memory or resources. I also run Eiwdo also at grisoft.com for spyware/malware/adware removal and prevention.

Or you can run www.housecalls.com

This sounds familiar. A friend has this happening. What it doing is trying to get on the computers through your ISP. As long as it being blocked you OK. These type viruses try to get on computers that unprotected and left on all the time. Some then use the computer as a Server. If, Norton give a name you may write it down and report it to your ISP Security Department.

Norton is JUNK. I highly recommend you download superantispyware. It will remove movieland. It is VERY effective and it is free.

Do a search on your computer and find movieland from there. You can delete it directly from the search box.

hi, perhaps you can try norton to remove the virus and protect your PC, but you need to pay for the software.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
