What kind of Yale lock? A' nightlatch' has five pins, you won't see by removing the barrel though.

just look at your key , the raised parts lift the pins so if you have 5 lumps on your key you have 5 pins in your lock , ps I think all Yale are 5 anyway ?

or, ask a lock smith to look at it...he can tell you by just sticking one of the picks in the lock and feeling the # of pins

stick a safety pin down the lock pull it out slowly and feel the clicks.
