I think it depends on how long you are away from each other. I am from America and I was with someone from Australia for 6 years. We met in America and were together for about 3 years. Then we had the long distance thing for another 3. We got engaged but it didn't work out in the long run once we really had to decide who was going to move for good. It was for the best, but I do think it could have worked if we really wanted it to!

I am an American and my(very beuatiful) wife is from Thailand, and yes it is working out fine. We are do for a baby in about seven months. I am in Thailand right now but will be going back to America for a few months for work and what not. Things are great I'm building(with my own two hands) a house for us here on some property we own and she'll be coming to America with me for a year or so sometime in March. We still haven't decided wether we want to live in Thailand or America but it really doesn't matter as long as were together. We love each other very much and thats all that really matters. Thats really what makes it work.
:) If you two are truly in love you'll know. And beleive me even if you are truly in love, distance can make the mind wonder, just remember why you love the person and how much they love you and it should be fine... Good luck with your venture I hope it works out as good for you as it has for me..

A relative of mine had a spouse that went over seas for 1 year and their marriage survived. They were married and thus committed. However, it has been my experience that relationships are hard enough when you see the person daily. A trans-ocean relationship almost certainly has a far less degree of chance than that.

It has been hard work and only thanks to the internet and lots of phone calls and trips, have my partner and I been able to maintain our relationship.
For the first three years we lived back and forth between the two countries but we finally had to make the ultimate decision to live together in One country or it would have ended. Now 12 years later we're still together but it has taken many sacrifices.

It can work as long as the separation is not permanent and the couple has the means to upkeep the relationship with frequent trips to visit each other.

yeah i think long distance relationshiips do work out. If you put your focus on that person alone and if you put your patience to the test, things could end up being in your favor.
