Oohbother is a good example of how informed liberals really are as opposed to conservatives on any varying subject.
Conservatives give some great examples of how they will parrott rumors they have heard or ***** fests on O'Really. Exception for the Southern Guy who experienced discrimination first hand and the guy who knows the professor who said we are a product of our environment.- those are keen observations I can agree with.

The professors are teaching facts and refuting falsehoods. Our country's history teaches us the reasons for things like Social Security and provisions for the poor. They teach us the reasons for environmental controls and regulations upon businesses.
The conservatives want to end these programs because they are an expense to the very wealthy that they so not want to pay and are unlikely to individually benefit from.
This country has gone through a depression, recession, or panic about every 50 years. During those times people who have worked and saved for their retirement have had their savings wiped out and their property values erased at a time in their lives when they cannot start over - this is the reason no 'private-account' scheme can replace the safety net of Social Security - and why we cannot give it up.
The burden of having no provisions for the poor would bring us pestilent slums and disease and famine deaths much the same as third-world countries have. It is in our own best interest to keep the poor at a minimum standard of life.
Love Canal is only one example of unregulated industrial poisoning. There are more. Our environmental regulations upon businesses may be unnecessary for 95%, but that 5% that does need inspected can create persistent damage and death.
I am not at all sure that the oil and gas industry is not currently conspiring with our oil-and-gas presidency to rake the nation with overcharges. Cheney's meetings with that industry to formulate the governments energy policy remain secret, despite subpoena demands for information to the courts. The Enron scandal exposed a similar abuse of prices in California during the recall effort against a Democrat governor - that may have had political motives.
The Conservatives know that unless history and education have a deliberate bias to remove this information - it will automatically favor their opposition.

Alot, not all, have become the very dictators they supposedly hate. They state they make statements that are outrageous to create and stimulate thinking in their students. Yet they get outraged if their students disagree. Their perception of reality is maintained in a very limited circle of friends and colleagues without basis to society as a whole. I have a friend who is involved in education as is his wife. He will tell me at work almost everyone is a democrat, mostly liberal, but when we are at the ball field, (with our kids) he finds most of the parents there to be Conservative. We are and tend to be a product of our environment. Urban mostly democrat, rural mostly conservative.

I don't think it is just conservatives. I believe that when someone tries to shove something down your throat that you don't agree is ridiculous and we has human beings should be allowed to make our own decisions and to be able to make these decisions we need the teaching of professors and others to help us learn to make our own decisions

There are already some very good answers here.
But its when college professors try to pass their own personal opinions off to their students as the only way to think or vote, there is a problem. The schools (colleges) should not permit this kind of brainwashing. But they do. Thats what offends me.

we have a nutjob at UWM in Wisconsin that teaches that 9-11 was a conspiracy. His name is Kevin Barrett. Just what parents want to spend tuition on!

Professors are in a position of power. The have a great deal of influence over the minds of our youth. They should not abuse that position of power by indoctrinating our young with their political views. Teach people the facts and let them form their own opinions instead of teaching opinions.

From what I've seen of many teachers is that they ridicule every student who disagrees with them. When a teacher can get paid to tell their (impressionable) students how Bush is like Hitler, we have a problem.
Too many of them focus on their OPINIONS instead of facts.
The FACT of the matter is that the teachers who actually TEACH their class instead of subjecting them to propaganda are few and far between.
That is why conservatives have a problem with many teachers.

It's when they teach: "America is evil. Hate America".
Some people find that offensive.
Most of these professors are old hippies that were spoiled poor litttle rich kids during the sixties.
(Probably still stinky.)

It not so much what they are teaching. Its how they are teaching it. They are pushing their own personal politics.

I don't hate my professors, but I greatly dislike them when they force their opinions on me as truths, which is stupid since i am paying for the class.
