Definitely Tums - they are doctor approved during pregnancy and they work right away. I kept Tums in business when I was pregnant - I had the same thing. I had a container in my purse, by my bed, and in my car at all times. My doctor also said that I could use Mylanta (I never did, but I hear it works pretty well, too)
They say that the more heartburn you have during pregnancy, the more hair the baby will have! (old wives' tale).
Good Luck

Tums - I'd buy the sugar free ones (they are orange)
At night to relieve acid reflux (when it comes up your throat into your mouth) I avoided eating past a certain time in the evening...like 6:30, 7:00pm at the latest. Also, avoid anything that will trigger heartburn/acid reflux - green peppers, onions, spaghetti sauce, garlic...

Your just getting started! Just wait till your busting at the seams. Everything, towards the end, made me have really bad acid, water was the worst! Just eat Tums after about everything. Dont over use it, but they are safe. I hope it goes away soon!

Check with your doctor first. I know tums and tylenol are approved during pregnancy but not always in the first trimester. I was told NO MEDS in the first trimester (besides vitamins). You might try nibbling on crackers too. My ob told me not to let my stomach get completely empty and that would help. Just a cracker every 2 hrs helped me alot with this.

GAVISCON. drank it by the bucket load when I was preggers. There are loads of anti-acids out there for ladies with child(and if you are a bit skint, go to the docs and get one on prescription).
