Have you ever been pregnant but received negative results?

Question

I think i might be pregnant but i am getting negative HPT results. This apparently runs in my family (nurse wants me to have more detailed tests) Here are the symptoms i am getting:-

Sickness,
Tired, .
Butterflies,
Funny feeling about 2 inches below belly button
Headaches,
Dizzyness,
I am 1 week late - I am as regular as anything even when stressed. I went throguh a marriage breakup last year where i thought i was going to die and i was still on time.

And i know this is going to sound weird but i feel the need to protect my stomach (am i going mad lol)

I have worked out that if i was pregnant then i would be roughly 3 weeks.

My mum had neg results till she was gone 3 months with me and my 2 brothers. (she actually didnt know with me till she was 5 months gone)

What do you think? Did you experience this?

Also, i keep getting a sharp pain in my left hand side.

I have booked my self in with my local Nurse for monday. She wants me to give a urine sample and she'll send it to the lab for more detailed testing. I suppose depending on the result and whether i have my period by then a blood test would be the next choice.

It is possible to get negative results back...my mum was 7months pregnant before the Docotors actually believed her, she hadnt put any weight on either..this was before scans or anything .way back in the fifties.

But do go for the other checks they have suggested just in case its something else.

Yep, I have had negative HPT with mine also...3 weeks is really early but you should get a Quantitative HCG test which is the most sensitive test to determine how far along you may be. Also if the pain on your left side continues and you have a positive blood test then your Doctor may order an ultrasound to check for a cyst on your ovary or an ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the uterus..usually in the fallopian tube). As of right now at 3 weeks it would be too early for the ultrasound to make a clear diagnosis on that..but it would see any cysts on your ovary.

No need to depend on the tests. Had several neg results with 1st child. Docs said I was imagining. Hm, must have a great imagination because he's nearly grown. Since then, I've learned to not be in a big hurry getting a pregnancy confirmed, if I bother to confirm it at all. Sooner or later, pregnancy is evident.

But! If you are having sharp pains in your side, there's a chance you could be experiencing an ectopic pregnancy, so call up your practitioner and let them know.

I got negative results! The best way is to go for blood tests! You don't want to lose your baby if you are and you did not know you were! That's what happened to me! I did the test; it came out negative I also had symtems but not bad ones but the test showed me negative and I went on with my life. You know party, alcohol all the stuff you should not do when you are pregnant. So 2 months later I had a miscarriage then the docter told me sorry it was not your hormones giving you all those simtoms but you were pregnant all along!!! So its better to go for the blood test!!

Yes, I had negative results two times, and yes, I was pregnant. Not only that, I was on birth control (the pill). As for being pregnant (yes or no) You will probably have to wait a couple of weeks and see if you start your period or take another test. The test may never tell you if you are pregnant, but I guess when you are nauseated every morning you'll know :) Good Luck to you :)

My sister had to have a blood test done because regular urine tests always came back negative and she was pregnant all 3 times.

Yes, The first time I got pregant I took the pharmacy test like 4 times and everytime it woul be negative so I had to take a blood test.

Back in 1979 I fell pregnant with my daughter, I had two negative results before I had a positive by that time I was 11 weeks. Jo

All of my sisters tests came back negative - HPT's and blood tests...she didn't get confirmation until she was 8 weeks along, with an ultrasound.

dear carrie, when i was pregnant with my third child i had a negative blood test.about a month later i went back to see my dr. and i was indeed pregnant.give yourself another week or two and test again , meanwhile try not to get your hopes to high up thinking one way or the other about it.whatever the answer all my best to you.
