The transmission works, except overdrive will not work unless the vehicle is already moving. Any suggestions?

I am going to guess that it is an automatic. That said it is probably your shifter linkage. This is also assuming that when you select the OD position it does not go into gear at all and you have to drop it to the D selection to get it going. This happens some times and is not that hard to fix. I am not very familiar with your vehicle though but it could be a loose bolt or nut or if it is cable controlled the cable might have stretched. If it is a manual transmission you should not be trying to take off in overdrive. Hope I have been helpful.
