Several reasons. First, people need to stop buying crap. We just buy junk and it piles up in our houses and rather than donating it to others, we throw it away and it goes to a big landfill. Also, we need to be careful of where our food is coming from. All these chemicals that are added to our foods are what is causing us to get fat. So now we are fat people with a bunch of crap in our houses. Not the best thing. Buy a waterbottle that you can wash and resuse. Drink water, not soda. Donate your used clothing and household goods to charities, women's shelters, Good Will or the Salvation Army.
REDUCE --> REUSE--> RECYCLE

e. g. there are two pairs of trainers: one a no-name 10 $ pair of trainers which do look very similar to the other pair of branded trainers for 80 $ - now - a consumer unaware of what may cause the price difference may decide to buy the 10 $ trainers - thinking - they look alike - must be the same quality. go and run a marathon with 10 $ trainers and you will know that your decision was VERY wrong!

So they can make the correct choices about the products, so that they can buy relevant products to the demands of their lives/careers/home and they should know how to use their products properly. Also not to buy the dud things out there that promise more than they deliver.
