I would love to know the same thing! I will have to put this question on "watch".
Out of the 10 exchanges students we have had in our home, all were amazed that sports is included and emphasized in school. They say school should be for education and I AGREE ! The schools talk about all the cut backs in the money, whine, piss and moan, but some how the sports just keep on going and going, the money is always there for that.
We gave our son the option of sports or work... He found ,the work environment to have many lessons for him to learn to prepare him for his adult life... Of course work isn't for everyone as we can see by the welfare system and unemployment... But being in the U.S.A. we choose what we want in life or if we want one at all..
aaaaaaaaaaaaah life is good !!

They should switch the emphasis back to "physical education" and never on competition!
God knows kids can come up with enough competition on their own!
All our children today are in dire need of physical activity, and our school systems seem to be ignoring it.
They all are 'right on top of things' when it comes to selling candy and snacks and soda for a profit to the schools, tho. Amazing, isn't it!
The sports people should get after the high schools so that they will be responsible for turning out strong minds and muscular bodies from exercise that is provided daily, plus the right kind of diet and education on diet.

That is so not true. Who tought you that? Or was that really how you saw it? Hey man, let me tell you something. The less you acomplish on the field, the better. If you devote so much time to something to the point you can't consintrate in the class room, chances are you don't need it. I don't mean you. Look at it this way. How many football players do you know of that's passing with Cs or higher. Take the time you can't spend on the field (because you're no good at sports) and spend it in a class room. The benifits are so much better. Just because your not so popular now, has nothing to do with the futer. The adverage highschool football players life peaks before his own graduation. Would you want to know that your life has no meaning after highschool. Imagen that feeling ten years from now. You know! After it's way to late to change it. Make a life for yourself. The guy you want to be will still be the same guy thirty years from now. He never expands or matures passed his highschool years. If you put enough into it, the guy you want to be now, will work for you in ten years. That's why I was nice to the people I though were dorks, I new it was very posible that I would work for them one day and they would remember that I was always nice to them.

because school boards across America are cutting out PE and the obesity rate is growing at an alarming rate. Sports is a great substitute.

Because Americans are competive and so are sports. I like highschool football. I actually play it and am a first string player. I also maintain a 3.7. The boys who aren't good at sports get picked on because they aren't "masculine" enough to play.

That's bad actually because those who do better in academics are actually the ones who are more successful in life (in terms of career, money and relationships) while the jocks find themselves working at gas stations and fast food resturaunts. So don't listen to the morons that make fun of you at sports, just concentrate of keeping fit and healthy and do better at your studies. There is more to life than being captain of the football team, cheerleaders, pom poms and pep rallies...all these things fail to be of any significance in real life.

Men don't want to grow up. They want to play with their balls forever. It's all about the balls. Holding them, throwing them gripping them, running with them. Back and forth between themselves. Bonding with the balls. The better you are with your balls the more of a man you are. Men have a lot of issues when it comes to their balls and playing with their balls. Its what they like to do most.
