Are You There God? Its Me, Margaret by Judy Blume. It covers everything with a sweetness tempered by a soft humor, from insecurities with the developing body and looks to popularity with peers, to the changing maturity of a girl. Great read for a 10 year old girl. (it wouldn't hurt to have ten year old boys read it too)

If she wants a change of pace from the fantasy books, see if the Babysitter's Club series is still around. I loved those at that age.

One of the best series I read was Everworld by A. K Applegate, if you think these may be a little too much for her try her other series called Animorphs.

She must love long intricate tales, in an age when kids look for role models. Try Justine, by Marquis de Sade.
