If we think of eternal life in terms of our human life and consciousness, I think we can most of the time say it will be a curse and maybe even get a little boring and old hat after a few million years. If eternal life is something new, beyond our scope of what life means to each of us, then it could possibly be the greatest gift to be apart of something grand, great, and so inconceivable that words cannot describe its beauty and majesty, and maybe we do not even have a conscious hand in any of it. But those that know have no means to tell us so, and if we knew should it change how we live our life?

Assuming that eternal life = eternal youth so that you aren't constantly aging forever but not dying hmmm...
It would depend on a person. I think if you were a complete narcissist and cared nothing for anybody but yourself, then it could be considered a gift to that person, seeing as they wouldn't have to bury any one that they truly loved. But then, who would really want to live forever like that?
If you were a normal happy person and had this immortality, well, you would bury every child you ever had, something that I don't think any one wants to do. Unless you couldn't have children or your offspring were immortal. I guess you could try and use your immortality for good, but if you did too much good you would get noticed. And if you got noticed, people would want to know how you got to be immortal not what good works you did. So you would probably be dissected forever until the scientists could figure out what makes you tick.
So my vote: Curse.

I think it depends... on the one hand, it can be a gift since you'll be able to experience all the future events and inventions humanity will go through. For someone like me, who would love to travel into outer space, it would be wonderful to have eternal life - as I'll never achieve that dream in my mortal life. But on the other hand, you have to see everyone you know and love die, assuming they don't have eternal life, and you'd also experience the next thousand years of humanity destroying themselves and each other.... not a happy prospect if you ask me.

There is no such thing, but if it did exist, it'd be a curse. Christians I know give one the choice of two undesirable places. One called heaven is too strict. All one can do is sing hymns prasing Yahweh, Moses' god, forever. I go up the wall if I hear such crap a few seconds, let alone forever. The Moslem heaven with 72 houris for men is much better.

Eternal means without beginning or end.
It is a noble goal. It depends on if you are a pessimist or an optimist.
If you are extremely disabled, and it constant pain, would you want eternal life?

I think there's a reason we only live as long as we do, I believe we'd get quite bored with eternal life (in the way we know life to be).
The longer you live & the more knowledge you acquire...the more difficult it would be to relate to others.

Not sure - guess I would have to experience it before being able to answer... does that mean you dont get old or will you just get wrinklier and smellier and more annoying as you go along - sounds almost like a curse...

life itself is a gift. it's being human that makes it a curse because then you are able to think about it, and you overdo it sometimes.

I would consider it both. Do you get eternal youth along with it? If not, you'd have to watch your body just waste away, but you couldn't die. And either way, you'd have to watch all those you love die. But it would still be incredible to be able to have all the time you wanted to explore the world, and educate yourself.
