Small mammals with small bodies also will have a faster metabolism meaning they will require food daily. While often you can leave food out in dishes around a cage water is also requred which can often run dry with the slightest mistake (the ball of a water bottle slipping and dripping all the water out in a matter of hours) so to answer your question, really it's never a good idea to leave small cage bound animals alone for a full weekend without someone that will at least be able to check on them once a day. Many reptiles go without feeding everyday, but in general are not playful. But if you have a friend or family member that could look in on a small cage bound pet once a day really any would work.

your not a cat person? thats ok. there are lots of other small pets to choose from. any small dog would be a great pet to have. a younger shi zu would be great. my aunt has one and she loves to play but at the same time doesnt mind being left alone for a while. this paticular shi zu doesnt eat much either. her name is zoe and sometimes zoe can go a day or two and not eat her food. but the problem with shi zu's is that they tend to have a digestive problem like zoe and require a special medicated food. the good thing is this food can be found at any petsmart store or at your local vets office.
