I have a 88 bronco II i recently purchased. The former owner broke the spindle nuts for the front 4wheel drive

Will my 4wheel drive still work if not, where can I find just the nuts?

If the spindle nuts are broken, the hubs won't stay on----wheels will fall off.

Do you mean the locking hubs?

Those can be found through a parts store, or from Ford.

I have an 86 S10 Blazer, and went to ebay, put that info in and found many parts type situations, as well as sellers who are knowledgeable.

Or just do a general search in WWW using browser and keywords.

Are you able to work on the vehicle yourself,,,just in case?
