Problem is, the housing market is doing poorly everywhere, even in formerly hot markets like Phoenix and Las Vegas. Many builders have cancelled housing projects.
That being said, you might want to seek employment in West Michigan (Grand Rapids/Holland/Muskegon area). West Michigan is totally different than the rest of Michigan. Plus, West Michigan has beautiful Lake Michigan beaches, lots of lakes, forests, etc.
