seen the event mentioned? I don't believe I have. This may not be the case for those of you who don't read the newspapers or listen to radio or watch TV. I don't know. Just seems like it's hard to avoid hearing about it at some point during the course of each day that passes. Also, I'm not saying this a bad thing, as a matter of fact, quite the opposite. We need to be constantly reminded so that we might be more vigilante and not allow this to happen again. What do you think?

Yes, we do seem to be reminded of the tragic events of 9-11 on a daily basis. I really do think America has to be reminded often. We tend to have a short attention span when it comes to national interests. Take the latest "No liquids on planes" rule. After just a few days of the restrictions, people were complaining that they could not bring their "assorted fluids" on board, and called for the ban to be lifted. When it comes right down to it, I really don't think that we Americans (at least not all of us) learned anything by what happened on 9-11.
I personally live about 35 miles from the crash site of Flight 93 in Shanksville PA, and I also lost a childhood friend when Tower Two of the WTC collapsed. I think that the people that lost somebody that day already have a daily reminder of the attacks. On that terrible day, we all should have learned that we now live in a different world. We no longer are completely safe in our own homeland. It is a shame that some people refuse to accept that. It is for those people, that we must continue with the daily reminders of what can actually happen even right here, in the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

How evident is selective memory.. seems like someone has completely failed to recall the pics on tv showing the sympathy all around the world... all, except the cheering from Islamic countries. Don't know if that poster was out in the country somewhere and didn't get any of the predominant news of the month. Guess we can forgive loss of memory however.

You are right.. being reminded is important.. is only too bad there are so many not even realizing nor recognizing... danger continues to exist.... Yet they continue to thwart the attempt to protect this country. By giving aid and comfort to the avowed enemy. Completely oblivious to what Islam is doing presently. Taking over the smaller countries, only because the US has taken steps to prevent a recurrance here.. but they will figure a way to get here and do damage. Something has to happen, with dire consequences, to wake some of these people up to the reality of our time.

I agree with you to a certain degree. Yes, I too do not believe there has been a day gone by that I haven't heard of 9-11. And yes we need to remember. But also not dwell of the fact. I don't understand why people in and out of the media dwell on things so much. Yes, I know it was a horrible thing to have happened but let us not forget other bad things that have happened that over time we are not dwelling on everyday... Attack on Pearl Harbor, Titanic, Hurricane Katrina. Rather it be a natural disaster or a "man made" disaster it's all horrible things that we must not forget and learn from but then comes a time to move on. If we as people sat and though about everything bad that has happened to us we wouldn't be living much of a life. Learn from the past don't live in it.

I just remember my days in school when we were reminded that people who are kept scared are people who can be easily controlled. I can't help but notice that often the terror alert scales have been altered at politically significant times, and that 9/11 sometimes has been thrown at us to justify things that aren't always related to terrorism. I can't think of a day without 9/11 and I don't think we should ever forget. I just worry that maybe, just maybe, our fears are allowing others to control us and keep us from looking around and saying, "whoah, personal freedoms being taken here, don't think I like it." I don't want to sound paranoid, but we do have to keep our eyes open not only to terrorists, but to those who might try to manipulate us with these strong feelings we have.

I know that 9/11 was a tragic incident in which innocent people died but 9/11 did not shock the world, the US Government made 9/11 shock the world. Why didn't Lebanon shock the world as 9/11, why doesn't Palestine shock the world as 9/11. Why didn't Abu-Ghuraib Jail shock the world as 9/11, why doesn't Guantanamo bay shock the world as 9/11. Why doesn't Iraq shock the world so much as 9/11. I hate Osama I hate Bush the Pharoah.
I have a message for the US government:
AS YOU SOW SO SHALL U REAP

9/11 showed us that we are not as safe as we all thought we were. That sense of security that some of us had prior to 9/11 has been shattered. I have to save though thru the news it seems like we are waiting for the other shoe to drop.
