Maaco $400 paint jobs suck. A local shop should be able to do a nice job for about a $1000.
The peeling and faded paint on your car must be sanded and primed.
You need a quality paint . Maaco's paint will fade in a couple months.

The rock-bottom price for car painting comes from Maaco. I don't know if they have them in AZ, but they will repaint a car for $250-500. They will even include a little body work .
I used to think that such cheap jobs must be horrible until I discused the matter with the paint supervisor of a very high-end body shop. He told me, "as long as you are not looking for an exact color match and something very fancy, their job is as good as ours. In other words, if you want the whole car painted and don't bother too much about the door jambs, they are fine. I have used them myself."
That is straight from the horse's mouth.

If you go the route of Maaco don't get upset a few months later when the paint starts to fade and bubble. They don't put much effort in sanding down and prepping your car before they paint it. They just paint over the exisiting paint and it will look like crap in a few months. Just dish out the extra money and get it professionally done. You will be happy in the long run.

Two places you definately want to avoid: Maaco, and Buckey's LTD!!! They both do very poor paint jobs that don't last more than a few months. The only difference is that Buckey's LTD will charge you about 4 times the money. (I've dealt w/ both of them and never again) Youre really going to have to talk to the different places and see what kind of warranty they will give too and get it in writing.

Ask someone who paints cars. You don't have time to wait around on hold to get a firm quote, but you have time to waste on the computer getting opinions. You have a bigger problem than a car that needs painting.

You need to get a quote from a body shop. They will need to look at your car, phone calls won't be much help.
It all depends on how much body work you need, what color of paint, like RED is very expensive.

Take it to an auto body shop and ask them. Best to get two or three estimates before signing anything.
