well you can use The Works on it or lime away. you will have to soak the stain for an hour or so. if its in the water you can use about a 1/4 gallon of bleach overnight to get rid of the stain. good luck.

Good answers above, but a couple other home remedies:
Remove the water from the bowl then pour in two liters of carbonic acid (coca cola for example). Leave it over night.
Also, toothpaste is amazing for stains on dishes, maybe it will do the toilet trick too.

Pumice stone works very good for removing bad stains, put on a pair of latex gloves wet the stone and scrub, you can find pumice stones at Walmart in the nail care area or any hardware stores.

First thing,Do you have a septic system? I would not use anything else if you do!You will kill off all the vital bacteria micro-isms.
If you want to use a "acid", I would use anything to clean tile grout.I find 'FIZZAZLE' works very well.
The stain may be etched in the porcelain and you may not be able to get it out.Ounce the 'glaze' is breached, the stain is in the porcelain itself.Try the grout cleaners,if they do not work,it's time to live with it or get a new toilet.

Before you try acid try using a pumice stone. You can get one at any hardware store. If it doesn't work the acid can be purchased at a store that sells pool supplies. Ask for muratic acid but be very careful with it.
