Several reasons. For me it's usually I forget to subtract an ATM withdrawal. You might have automatic withdrawals that you forget to substract Banks charges. These would be if your showing less than the bank says you have. If the bank says you have more, have you added any direct deposits like your paycheck? Any interest? Always double check your math.

You've written checks which haven't cleared the bank yet.. You haven't recorded monthly account fees or interest credited.. You made an addition error while bringing your balance forward..
