HOW DOES MY FRIEND FIX HER JEANS THAT HAVE WORN AWAY AT THE TOPS OF THE LEGS DUE TO RUBBING? THE DENIM HAS GONE ALL HOLEY AND FRAYED SO IT CAN NOT BE SEWN AND PATCHES WOULD LOOK CRAP.

Before you all say buy a new pair. They have sentimental value as my friend was wearing them the night she met snogged Prince William.

First of all, how can anyone believe that this person has snogged Prince William, you must all be soooo gullible!!!!! Secondly, to rectify the problem with the jeans this "friend" needs to lose weight on her legs to prevent the rubbing from occuring again on another pair of jeans!! (God, I'm in a bitchy mood today!)

Well, if you can't get a new pair of jeans, try a patch that goes on the inside of the trousers. They are plasticy things that you can get from most habidashers or sewing shops, and most of them are iron on. Just buy one the same colour as the jeans, iron it on in the inside, then reinforce by sewing around the patch with a thread that it identical in colour to the jeans.

She needs to learn how to darn, its about the only thing that'll save them - she could also try ironing on fabric glue patches (used to repair tears in silk and very fine fabrics - she would still then need to darn the holes (a bit like criss cross sewing, making rows in one direction and then going in the other direction, weaving between the rows she's already created. Its a bugger, but probably the only way, short of patches or buying new jeans!

I would agree with the majority. Get new jeans. Even though the old are all soft and cuddly, it is time to give them up. Start with washing a new pair several times to remove all the fabric sizing. This will get the stiffness out of them. Then wear them like they came with you. LOL Pretty soon they will develop their own personality. Good luck to your friend and to you too.

well you have four choices a) cut away at the knees and then they will look retro and you can gurantee that no one else will have them jeans and you will look individual. b) cut away the legs and you will have a very sexy pair of shorts and you can make them even better by adding some rhine stones or some glitter and you can add the date of the kiss with the prince. c) you can add some very cool squares to add abit of girly flair or you can hang therm up and keep them and just dream of simpler days!

cut up another old pair then cut two pieces to size, turn the pieces inside out ie the back of the denim facing through the raggy bits and randomly zig-zag over the pieces enough times so it is secure enough.. to get through another couple of wash/wears .

screw it, put more holes in them make them fashionable. If theres one hole put some rips on the knee areas and she can do this the right way my getting a pomus stone (which u can get anywhere they sell bath supplies) and rubbing them until they wear out the threads. I do this all the time(one hole looks soooooooo bad)
