Any English teachers here? do you teach over the phone?

If so, please help me! I´m very interested in doing this, but I don´t know how to go about it. I´m a ESL teacher in Spain.

I teach English in Japan. Many years ago I worked for a company that offered phone practice to some of our clients. The students and teachers had lists of topics. When a student called, the teacher would ask, "What topic do you want to discuss?" Then we'd both go to the same page. The teacher would ask some questions to "prime the pump" and let it go from there. We had a 5-minute time limit.
Lots of places now are using webcams for personal one-to-one lessons. You could do that from home if you had the equipment (a good quick PC with a webcam hooked up).
Some of my students send me e-mail on their cell-phones or from their PCs, and I correct the grammar, vocab, usage, etc and send it back.
Lots of options out there, limited only by your imagination (and your budget, to some extent). Have fun and good luck!

The methods that work for distance learnering tend to involve e-mail or letter. However, verbal communication is quite high on the ESL agenda. You might want to look at some form of audio attachment, or video conferencing. Althernatively, you might be able to arrange some form of mobile phone training, but this might limit what you can offer.

All of this assumes a certain technical ability from your learners.

You need to plan what you want to offer and how.

record your voice in a CD, then send it to your learners.
send e-mail lessons and explanations via internet
