Yes, I agree with you...they were fantastic people but so are alot of others who are lesser known publicly but who have still made huge impacts on peoples lives. For example, doctors, fire fighters and policemen all contribute hugely to our society and some of US would not be here if it were not for them. Then again I guess there is not enough hours in the day to give media coverage to everyone...

it is sad they both died but do we have to see them on the news every time we watch
last week on every day and every media tv radeo paper
the head line was something to do with Steve or Peter
today it was Peter Brock
tomorrow Steve Irwin
on friday Peter Brock again will be all over the media again
sad as it is that both men died, i am sure there are many other bits of news the reporters could be chasing
i think both men would not want there famiies going though the plan of the media again and again

Yes these situations are truly unfortunate and what makes the whole situation worse is the "media feeding frenzy" that just goes on and on, day after day. That includes all forms of public media such as TV, Newspapers, Radio, Internet News, etc.

It is nothing more than a ploy on the part of the "media" to saturate the public with the initial story and continually show/play programs and printed stories to increase their corporate profits and ratings.

Believe me, it actually has almost nothing to do with keeping the public informed. These are corporate/management decisions and it's all for their benefit.

I guess it depends on your location..There is no media overkill pertaining Steve Irwin or Peter Brock in my area.

I was not a Brock supporter even though his death was sad.
I however loved Steve and believe all the media has to be congratulated the way they have handled it.
His memorial service was something special and well deserved.

From an Aussie that loved Steve.

No. I don't think so. They're famous celebrities who loves animals. Or should I say, loved. Speaking of which, Animal Planet is going to air Steve Irwin's public funeral today on TV. I'll probably be tuned in to watch it, if I knew the time it was on.

I used to think this about media overkill. But in a way, the repetition helps us to remember celebrities and world leaders we've liked and will miss. It's the public's way of mourning.
