Go to the start tab and click on bring up the program panel go to the run tab and click it its at the bottom right of programs arrow and type DXDIAG click this will bring up a panel it will have show the Audio information you need to find out what is installed go to each page and test them one by one, do you have AcitiveX 9. On sounds page it should have your driver software name if its empty you will have to download a sound card/driver,if XP you can download Realtek AC'97 Drivers 3.2 you can find this at www.majorgeeks.com free downloads, this supports all ALC series Audio chipsets from ALC 101 up to ALC 861 this will also give you WHQL if missing and a program called sound man.It will also give you a panel on the bottom task bar next to the clock. So click on this when downloaded its a blue square with yellow half circles round a yellow dot this after clicking this will bring up a panel with all the settings you will need to set up your sound system and the speakers microphone and headset plugged into your three ports on the back of your computer. You can change all the ports around to fit what you want just by changing there symbols and find which one works after you have changed it so you don't have keep pulling out the plugs to get them working. If you need a different driver majorgeeks have many to download so find the one you need and start setting your sound system up.One thing have you tested headphones so you know they all work.

very almost all laptops use integrated sound enjoying cards (sound card is equipped into the motherboard). this suggests that any electric powered noise being generated with the aid of interior reach aspects (ram, processor, etc.) would be transferred to the audio sign. there is not any way around this different than for paying for an exterior sound card. on the different hand, there are USB headphones, for occasion the Steelsound 5H USB (that's extremely in simple terms the steelsound 5H with a usb sound card), which convert the digital sign to analog outdoors of the workstation case, and consequently very much shrink the noise. in case you're no longer keen to fork out the money for an exterior card, you are able to attempt recuperating the air circulate, making constructive your workstation continues to be cool. protecting it 20 ranges cooler can decrease the means intake with the aid of as much as 50%, which in turn reduces the electromagnetic interference with the aid of 50%.

Check all your volume controls. On the toolbar, the program and on the computer itself. If it still doesnt work then it is probably the soundcard to your computer. Go to the control panel, open up the hardware icon and look for a yellow !. If you see that then you need the new driver for the card.

You need to have the sound drivers installed.

Are they the correct sound drivers?

Make sure you don't have your sound card muted.
