This happens especially if you have had to give it some on the throttle then need to come to a halt very soon after. As you are pulling up, the revs suddenly increase (causing car to lunge sligthly). Continues to rev fast even when put into neutral, for 5-10 seconds.

Almost sounds like I have held the foot on the accelerator while braking and being stopped. Almost as if the throttle is stuck or something.

Let me know if you need more details... Ta

Well it's gonna be your Idle Air Control motor located at the throttle plate. Just remove the screws that hold it on to the throttle body. while you have it off have somebody get into the car and press down on the throttle till it's on the floor. Then spray some Gumout Carb. Spray into the throttle plate area and remove all black sludge (or coke) from the top[ and bottom with a rag. Have the person inside work the throttle back and forth while you spray into the throat of the throttle body, also spray some where you removed the IAC motor. then install the new IAC motor and re-hook all hose connections..
When you get ready to start the car hold the accelerator to the floor and start car, when car fires up let off the accelerator. The reason for this is that you are spraying carb cleaner into it and its gonna flood it temporarily. then after it starts let in run at idle for about 5 minutes..
Now drive it at 25-30 mph for a distance of about 5-10 miles including stopping and starting such as stop signs and red lights, to reset the computer and it will relearn the idle specs...

sounds like the throttle is getting stuck. Check it for build-up and make sure its clean. Also check the throttle cable and make sure its still in working order.

It's more than likely the IAC motor." Idle air control. This part is notorious for this problem on a Ford. It's not very expensive to replace. Get someone to check it out so your not replacing parts to find the problem.

I would desire to assume that your grasp gadget is a hydraulic setup. meaning, the pedal is actuated like a brake pedal, with brake fluid, yet has its very own gadget. examine under the hood to make certain in case you have brake fluid in that little reservior, this is by potential of itself. would desire to be on the factor to the brake reservior. If, it is low, then you incredibly've a sluggish leak, and it has purely presented air into the line, that's inflicting your contemporary subject. restoration the leak, and then bleed the gadget solid(that there is not any air interior the line). and you will desire to be ok after that. solid success.
