and has anyone got info on whether a backing track for this is available too?

this is a rock guitar track called 5th of beethoven the guitaring sounds like joe satriani or steve vai but isn't them.
I hope someone knows who it is by because I'd lov to get the backing track for it.

I think it may have been Yngwie Malmsteen. i seem to remember hearing a CD with him playing electric versions of classical tunes.

you mean the whole thing I presume. Only thing I can think of is Electric Light Orchestra's couple measures intro to 'Roll Over, Beethoven". Sorry. I'll check back to see for myself.

It is Sir Yngwie J. Malmsteen. I have that song and love it. IT's not as long as Beethoven's original, but it is damn good and heavy.
