She probably got where she's at by working twice as hard and twice as long...
She's probably been screwed over by mail superiors...

be empowering...be eager...demonstrate your hardwork ethic.
And if that doesn't work...tell her your dick is still bigger.

Because they have no physical power so they see being made into a boss as an opportunity to use their position to bully people. It is a pity that they are more concerned with their personal ego's than they are at efficiently motivatiing their staff to the benefit of their companies.

How to handle her depends on your job and circumstances. If you worked there long enough to have legal job protection make a note of every time she oversteps her authority and if she does it sufficiently take the company to court for constructive dismissal, in this case expecting you to accept a more than necessary amount of abuse to get the job done.

If she is in middle management you could first try to bring the problems to the attention of her boss to avoid the legal route.

If you are part time, a new hire or otherwise unprotected, find another job may be the best route.

Either way, if you are in a union, tell them and make them earn your subscriptions.

I am sorry to hear that, I am a woman boss and I wouldn't be mean to anyone. Treat others how you want to be treated. However, I do know someone who is like you are explaining, and I think she feels she is in a man's world, and therefore has something to prove, which is a total load of rubbish !!! She needs to get a personality transplant. If others feel the same, why don't you all get together and talk to her about it?

Hey that is personal to her, not all women!

My staff know that I have their back and that they can come and see me about anything.

If she is the same to everyone ; then I suggest that you plan out what you need to say well in advance.

Have your arguements ready and answers for any concerns you think she may come up with.

It may be that a she is overworked or feels that the staff are not supporting her.

Be polite.Smile a genuine smile, even if you want to hit her, and be concise about what you want.

Good luck.

some are & some are not, I worked w/ one who was & I
went to the higher up bosses & told them about how nasty
she treated me, happens that she was this way to MANY
other people & they told her to knock it off or she'd loose
her job. Well she left for another place of employment
shortly after that, due to an arguement she had w/ one of the big bosses. YEAH !

I think some are like this because of stress OR pms.

Good luck

Most female bosses at work who are single are meaner then hell
they don't care about anyone or anything that has happened to..
I've seen it in a few companies that I've worked for and for a few other people.
Good luck to you...

Working under the guidance of an age equal peer, is very difficult, especially if you and her were equal co-workers prior to her promotion. Now that she is "incharge", possibly the burdens and demands of her position is more than she is prepared to respond to properly. You are correct, there is no reason to cater to a personality as you've described her to exhibit. Trying to maintain a "friendship" in this situation is not necessary to hold your job. Keeping your wits about you during one her "moments", will show you to be the more mature of the association. Your best defense, is to do your job as well as you are able to, and to show yourself to be in control of your facilities. Don't let petty jealousy interfere with your work. As far as "dealing" with people of this ilk, avoid contact, except as is dictated by the relationship required in the performance of your job. If you are seeing this side of her, then most likely, her superiors do also. Your only recourse, is to cover your "backside" and make sure that you are doing what you are tasked to do in the performance of your job.

grow mustaches. Serious.of course if you are male. Otherwise show her one in the form of husband or boyfriend calling every hour and you behave as though you are very afraid of him.Lady bosses sympathize with victims of harassment.

just try to hook her up with someone, and she'll be an angel without wings :)
