...potty humor is soooooo funny?

Last night, one ofd my daughters laughed and laughed about a kid at preschool who "pooted."

I have to admit, I laughed and laughed, too!

What is it about "potty humor" that makes it so funny? Is it the sound? Is it the "words" we use for the activity?

I can't really answer the question -- But big kids find it really funny too! I spent last weekend camping with a bunch of firefighters. The fire "men" were standing around the campfire having their own pooting contest and carrying on hysterically. I have to admit with a few beers under our belts, it was pretty funny. (Thank goodness they were considerate enough to be downwind from their nonparticipating friends!)

Little kids think everything is funny. My 5 yr old laughs at nothing so the idea of someone pooting just sends him into a frenzy. I miss the days when my sense of humor was so carefree.

No idea, but it makes me laugh when they're laughing. There was a music video a while ago that had a buch of women in leotards doing aerobics, and my then four year old was rolling around on the floor about it. 'Look mummy, I can see bottoms!'. Apparently bottoms, and the sounds they make, are the funniest things in the world to a child.

Potty humor is hilarious!!! Oh my gosh. I think it has to do with the fact that you are at your silliest when you are talking about stuff like that. The tone of your voice and the look on other people's faces? Cracks me up every time!!!

Kojak honey, I just have no idea.
I'm too distracted about not being invited
to the camping trip with a bunch of
pooting firemen and cat lady.
I'm hurt. I'm so hurt.

I think because it is not something that you hear or talk about often, it always catches you off guard. Most of the time, if something catches you off guard, you can't help but laugh about it.
