I had a heart valve replacement operation in 1984 and still have trouble sleeping because I can hear it clicking when I'm trying to get to sleep and worry about it stopping(I subconsiously stop breathing so I can hear it better which speeds up my heart rate and end up having a panic attack)
Has anybody else had this problem and how have you resolved it as I've tried music through headphones but the vibrations from my heart go through the mattress so that doesn't work and don't like the idea of sleeping pills.

This (answers) doesn't seem the place for serious questions judging by the only answer you have had so far.Is there not perhaps a more suitable site, a medical one perhaps for you to discus this with others in a similar position?
