Are you looking for a good method to prevent pregnancy?
Well, there's always the condom! If used correctly, it's close to fail safe. Of course, there's always the chance that it could break, but you can use it with a back up method such as spermicide gel or foam, or a sponge.
Your girlfriend could look into getting on the birth control pill. It also comes in a patch form that you apply to your skin, and in a removable vaginal ring. If used correctly, these methods prevent pregnancy 99% of the time.
The natural family planning method (where you don't use protection and instead time your sex for when she is least likely to get pregnant) does not work well, and is only recommended for couples who are very OK with having children. Same for the method where the guy "pulls out" before ejaculation.

The best way would be to avoid sex.
If that's not for you, then use the female contraceptive pill, or condoms.
