I don't know where you are from, but while the U.S. Congress is in session, Congressmen cannot be arrested for misdemeanors. They are politically exempt from small crimes.

Is this stupid? Yes. Will it ever change? No.

It is because they are not citizens. It is hard to arrest worms. In the US we can arrest anyone and no one is exempt from any crime contrary to what someone else posted. In fact most congressmen are arrested for misdemeanors while in office.

This is not particular to India only! Its the same for most countries of the world. Its easy to understand the scenario: you go to the poll, you elect your representatives and place them on those expensive leather sofas, giving them all the advantages you can imagine, together with a big stick to beat you as and when they want. Funny isn't it?
